Calvary Chapel Bible Training Centre

May 26, 2021 by kjgrace53@aol.com

Calvary Chapel Bible Training Centre was established in December of 2000 and has been training Christian leaders for 20+ years. The Training Centre has developed a non-denominational Bible training program designed for those who desire to study verse by verse through the entire Bible.  While studying through the Bible students are taught the Inductive Bible Study method.  Through this method they learn to study and teach the Bible without commentaries or other Bible helps.

The Training Centre is located near Pepease and enjoys a pleasing climate and inspiring vistas.  There are Men’s and Women’s Dorms, Classrooms, a Sport Field, and large lawn and garden areas.  Walking paths provide a good opportunity for a little moderate exercise or you may find a bench for relaxing in the shade while reading or conversing with other students.  The views surrounding the campus are an everyday reminder of God’s glorious creation.  We continually thank God for His wonderful provision of this place to give ourselves to the study of the Scriptures.

Former students include pastors, church leaders, church workers, and new Christians from the US, Gambia, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Ghana.  Every Christian is welcome to apply for the training, however, each applicant must have the recommendation of his or her pastor or a compelling reason why such a recommendation is not included in the application.  Priority will be given to those currently active in Christian service.

Space is limited, so not all students applying will be accepted.  Since the program is taught exclusively in English, each applicant must be competent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Guidance and Glory

September 4, 2015 by kjgrace53@aol.com

You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Psalm 73:24

What more could we desire that is not in this one promise alone?

Divine guidance and wisdom to help us find our way day by day and the sweet hope of eternity in the presence of God.  Are you struggling with a problem or decision?  Then ask God for guidance.  Review the wisdom contained in the Scriptures.  What has God already said about your situation?

We don’t often need new revelation.
What we need is to remember and reflect on the truth we have already received.  Is there a truth you can recall that would give you direction?  God’s provision is often one day at a time.  Like the manna that fed the children if Israel.  It was to be gathered fresh each day.  Do you have enough light, enough direction for today?
Then follow it with all your strength.

If you don’t know what to do then you must keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking.

 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8

 And you must wait on the Lord.

Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

We never know what tomorrow will bring, but we can trust that God will be faithful to guide us with His counsel until He brings us to His glory.

From Every Kindred, and Tongue, and People, and Nation

September 3, 2014 by kjgrace53@aol.com

Years ago a large group of Fulani people settled in Gbeo, about 30 miles from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. Recently we met with some of the women and children while we were in the area visiting churches and conducting Women’s Conferences. Though usually Muslim, this Fulani village has a sizable Christian church. Mavis Ayamga, whose husband Robert directs Calvary West Africa Bible Institute in Bolgatanga, has been ministering to them and arranged our meeting.

The day had begun with rain and that delayed the women, but not the children. They arrived eager to be involved in whatever was going on, so we taught them the story, found in 1 Samuel 3, of young Samuel first hearing God speak to him. Then we shared the story in John 6 of the little boy who gave his lunch to Jesus and watched as the Master blessed it and fed 5000 people with his offering. God can and does work through even young children. May He watch over each one leading them early to salvation in Jesus and a life that brings blessing to them and glory to God.

By the time we finished the two stories for the children the benches were full. Several of the young men and even an older gentleman came to be part of our gathering.

Kumasi Conference 2014

September 3, 2014 by kjgrace53@aol.com

Kumasi Conference August 30, 2014.On August 30th we had a wonderful time of fellowship and teaching with former students in the Kumasi area. Three teachers from the Training Centre, Pastors Nicholas, Asampana, and Yara-Yiri accompanied us and were a real encouragement to those who came. The question and answer time was also fruitful and reminded us how much those in the field need our encouragement and prayers.
Pastor Donne closed the Conference with a teaching from Acts 11:23, “exhorting us all that with purpose of heart we should cleave to the Lord.”

September 2014 Update

September 3, 2014 by kjgrace53@aol.com

Here at Calvary Chapel Bible Training Centre we’re praising God for His faithfulness over the past fourteen years. Our hearts are full of joy and thanksgiving as we continue training men and women to study and teach the word of God in Ghana and throughout West Africa.

Earlier this year we began conducting church services, including Children’s Ministry, for the local community here in Pepease. We’re now praying about constructing a church building that could also be used for conferences and a new Pastoral Training Program we hope to begin in January 2015. An increasing number of our incoming students are pastors or assistant pastors, yet many have never been part of a church reflecting a Calvary Chapel style of ministry and church life. Our desire is to allow students to have a church experience rooted in the practices of the early church. “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Acts 2:42

Pastor Chuck believed that if you saw a need God showed it to you so that you would help meet that need. Over the past two years we have visited some of the churches pastored by former students. A key observation was that women and young children are the majority in every congregation, especially those in the North. Most of the women have unbelieving husbands and their sons lose interest in church by about age 10. We believe God opened our eyes to these needs so that we could come alongside and help.

We began with Women’s Conferences that focused on Christian Family Living. Our aim was to help wives and mothers learn the Biblical principles that apply to marriage and raising children in the Lord. Just recently we had a praise report from a church in Burkina Faso where we had a Women’s Conference in February. There are now 5 husbands attending church who were brought by their wives. Last year that seemed impossible to those women, but God has been at work in their homes and relationships!

Our prayer is that God will also show us how to help the churches minister to the children while they are still very young and willing to receive the truth. Children’s Ministry directed at Evangelism, Bible Lessons, Scripture Memorization, and possibly mentoring young boys who don’t have a godly male example in their lives, could all be part of effectively capturing the next generation for Christ.

Jesus Never Fails

January 11, 2014 by kjgrace53@aol.com

Jesus Never Fails

Jesus Never Fails

We must write that truth across our hearts.
His love is without limit, His grace unfailing, His mercies never ending, great is His faithfulness.
This is the testimony of the children of God.
Whatever our present circumstances, we know ‘if God be for us, who can be against us?’

Trust is perhaps the greatest lesson of the Christian life.
We are each suppose to grow in our capacity to trust God.  When we study the lives of the men and women in the Bible we can easily see how they struggle sometimes to trust in God, to believe His promises.  Sometimes they succeed magnificently, as Abraham did when he was ready to offer his son Isaac.  But that same Abraham failed miserably, twice, to trust God with his own life being willing instead to jeopardize Sarah his wife.

Each of us will have many opportunities throughout our lives to trust God.
Discover and meditate on His promises.
You’ll find in them the strength to believe and trust God in the difficult times.
Remember, Jesus Never Fails.

 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
Joshua 21:45

2013 Women’s Conference Koforidua

January 4, 2014 by kjgrace53@aol.com

Greetings from Koforidua.

In the Spring of 2013 we held Women’s Conferences in four locations in Ghana.  The teachings focused on Spiritual Growth in Christ and Marriage & Family Life.  As Christian women we have been invited to live an adventure in faith, but a faith rooted in truth, not wishful thinking.  The Scriptures are overflowing with God’s instruction about life and relationships.  You don’t have to wonder how to make your marriage successful.  You can discover the principles in the Bible.  The same is true for raising children.  In fact, in every area of our lives we can learn from God’s word the principles that set us free and give us the abundant life Jesus promised.

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
2 Peter 1:3-4
